In the early weeks of the war, 35 children were evacuated from an orphanage in Mariupol after the building, renovated shortly before the invasion, was destroyed during the fighting.
The children were brought to southeastern Poland, where a temporary home was organised for them. The photographs document their everyday lives after evacuation, including their activities and interactions in their new surroundings.
